A hulking, eight-foot-tall young man with shaggy brown hair and a childlike heart. Parriwimple lost his parents to the siege and then watched his uncle die on the barricade — and still he stood and fought. One of the bravest souls in Barovia.
Overview
Parriwimple is the orphaned nephew of Bildrath Cantemir, the cynical mercantile owner in the Village of Barovia. Standing eight feet tall with enormous physical strength, he is nonetheless gentle-natured, simple-minded, and deeply good-hearted. His parents — Bildrath's sister Marta and her husband Dragomir — were killed during the siege, leaving Bildrath as his guardian.
Despite his limited intellect, Parriwimple is brave, loyal, and unflinching in the face of horror. He fought on the barricade alongside the party during multiple nights of the siege, enduring trauma that would break most people. He fidgets with the hem of his tunic when nervous and shows childlike fascination with exotic weapons and travelers. He now serves as gravedigger at the Church of the Morning Lord, a duty he carries out with quiet reliability.
Session Appearances
Session 05 — First Meeting
The party first encountered Parriwimple at Bildrath's Mercantile. He was described as an eight-foot-tall simple man, recently orphaned after his parents' deaths during the siege. Bildrath, initially cynical and hostile toward the party, softened visibly when they showed kindness to his nephew. Parriwimple was grateful for the party's warmth — a rare thing in a village under constant attack.
Session 06 — The Barricade and the Death of His Uncle
Parriwimple took his place among the defenders on the barricade alongside his uncle Bildrath and the party. He fought bravely through multiple waves of undead.
During the zombie waves, Daisy rolled a natural 20 on a fire bottle attack, instantly killing a creature — earning Parriwimple's open admiration and respect. When ghouls began climbing the barricade walls, Parriwimple begged Daisy to hold his belt so he could lean over the edge and shoot at a climbing creature. Daisy agreed, using a strength check with inspiration to keep the massive man from falling, and successfully held him while he fired.
Then the horror arrived. A gelatinous creature sprayed devastating acid across the barricade. Defenders' skin melted away. Eyes dissolved from their skulls. Bildrath was among those killed — his body literally dissolving from the acid spray. Parriwimple screamed in anguish, calling out: "Uncle? Uncle Bildrath?" — the moment he realized his uncle was dead.
Session 07 — Nearly Killed
The following night's siege brought a terrifyingly fast zombie with supernatural abilities. After a town guard broke Daisy's Turn Undead effect by attacking the creature, the zombie unleashed devastating counterattacks. It instantly killed the guard, then struck Parriwimple for 15 damage — nearly killing him in a single blow. A second slam attack narrowly missed him. He survived through nothing but luck and positioning, standing amid the carnage of dead guards and the necrotic explosion that followed.
Session 08 — A Quiet Evening
After the horrors of the siege, Aleric spent the evening at the church with Parriwimple and Father Donovitch. This quiet moment — a paladin sitting with a grieving young man and a broken priest — speaks to the bond the party formed with Parriwimple through shared suffering on the barricade.
