Petru

An elderly Vistani healer, beloved husband of Raxandra, and the only person in the band who kept Stefan in check. He was killed by a scarecrow before the party could intervene — the first death the party witnessed in Barovia. His loss left Diona vulnerable and set the stage for Stefan's execution.

Overview

Petru was the healer of Raxandra's Vistani band and her beloved husband. He was chosen alongside Raxandra for Madam Eva's mission to find an ancient ring. An animated, passionate man — he was seen arguing loudly with exaggerated gestures, shouting "It is accursed!" about a buried object moments before the scarecrow attacked. His death at the scarecrow's claws was the catalyst for the party's intervention with the Vistani.

Session 04 — Death

Petru was killed by a scarecrow that erupted from the brush while the Vistani band was arguing near a dead tree. He died before the party could decide whether to intervene. Raxandra performed a ritual over his body and buried him deep in the woods "so his soul can move unbidden into the world." She forced Stefan to dig the grave: "It must be deep. Deep enough so that nothing comes back."
