Overview
Vallaki is the largest settlement in Barovia, a fortified town that has somewhat resisted Strahd's dominion through walls, gates, and a stubborn determination to maintain the illusion of normalcy. The town is ruled by the Burgomaster, who maintains strict control through military force and legal authority.
However, Vallaki refuses to accept refugees from Barovia, viewing them as sources of plague and death. This callousness has created tension between the towns.
The Festival of Blazing Sun is a yearly celebration meant to restore hope and unity, but it feels increasingly desperate and forced.
